The people behind the Flying Tent are having a good month. Since launching their product on Kickstarter they’ve raised nearly half a million Euros (their goal was 20,000 Euros if that helps put things in perspective) and they’ll begin filling orders any day now. We’re not surprised by the overwhelming response. The Flying Tent is one of those all-inclusive camping resources that make you wonder why someone didn’t think of it sooner.
The Flying Tent is so profound because it’s so straightforwardly useful. It can function as a floating tent, a bivy tent, a relaxing hammock and a rain poncho. As if that weren’t enough, it also features mosquito-protection netting and a water-resistant fly. The only thing left for you do once the Flying Tent is tucked in your backpack is locate that ideal spot between two trees to set up camp. After all, there’s no point in letting a good hammock go to waste.
This is yet another product that highlights the beauty of Kickstarter. There are just so many experiences in life that can be made more convenient and even affordable by new products, but until now raising capital was usually the hardest part. Now people don’t have to go bankrupt trying to get their dreams off the ground and the fundraising process even doubles as a built-in gauge determining the level of interest. Given those parameters, we anticipate the inventors of the Flying Tent will be millionaires before the year’s end!
