Pirelli are quite familiar with the snow. Their tires such as the Scorpion and Sottozero are two of the most popular choices in high performance winter tires. Today, the company are taking their expert knowledge of rubber and applying it to the slopes with the launch of the Sport Carve Ski.
They collaborated with Blossom, an Italian company known for their hand-made skis. The ski will be the first of its kind to have a rubber anti-vibration layer. This is created by incorporating a sandwich technique that seals materials such as a wooden core, graphite sole, Titanal for stablisation and fiberglass using heat. This is all built around a strip that has a specially-formulated rubber that can reduce up to 60% of the vibration experienced during downhill descents.
The skis will be available in seven different colours, and will come in lengths of 158, 164, 170 and 181. Each colour will have 110 quantities each to pay homage to the 110th anniversary of Pirelli.
