Have you ever wanted to experience the feeling of flying over the water? Now you can, thanks to Lift. The Puerto Rican company just unveiled the first electric-powered hydrofoil surfboard, featuring a submerged hydrofoil which lifts the eFoil completely out of the water. The board has an electric motor housed within the hydrofoil that lets you ride the water without doing any work at all, kind of similar to an electric skateboard, but much, much cooler.
The eFoil can reach speeds of up to 25 MPH and has a range of 15 miles. Controlled via a wireless handheld unit, the controller is connected to the board via Bluetooth; speed is adjusted by pressing the throttle. The controller also has a screen that displays battery speed and charge, and floats to the surface of the water so if you drop it while riding a wave; you can easily find it.
You’ll get a solid 45 minutes of hang time thanks to a lithium battery, which was designed specifically for the rugged marine environment. It’s enclosed in a special corrosion resistant, waterproof housing. It also recharges quickly and easily – just plug it in and in about two hours, you’ll have a full charge.
The eFoil is available in two different sizes. It comes in a standard size, which offers more stability thanks to a bigger deck. The smaller E1 Sport model turns quicker and is more nimble. The eFoil comes in four different colours, carbon blue, purple, free and black.
