The 1937 Talbot-Lago T150 C SS by Figoni et Falaschi, also known as the Goutte d’Eau’ Coupé, may be the finest car in the world. This classic automobile has won numerous award including the Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award. This year was the inaugural Peninsula Hotels Classics Contest. This contest featured six of the world’s best automobiles. They were judged by a panel of 24 industry insiders and respected car connoisseurs, including Jay Leno. All choose the 1937 Talbot-Lago as the most exceptional car in the world.

The Talbot-Lago T150 C SS is sometimes called a teardrop or Goutte d’Eau’, which is French for water droplet because it resembles a water droplet.

When it was initially introduced, this vehicle stood out among the cars of its time. It was one of the very few cars that both won top races and redefined automobile style. Its combination of function and form made it an icon. This automobile was the basis for the more streamlined vehicle design.

One of Figoni et Falaschi most coveted auto designs, the teardrop represented the art deco scene with its sensual curves. This type of vehicle design was unlike anything else at the time. In total, just 30 of these cars were ever made, making them extremely coveted by collectors.

The 1937 Talbot-Lago T150 is powered by a 4-liter, three carburetor 6-cylinder engine. It has about 100 horsepower and can top 160 km/h. The powertrain includes a 4-speed transmission.
