James Roper-Caldbeck’s Jamesville Custom Shop in Copenhagen, Denmark is a household name for hardcore custom bike enthusiasts – as an Englishman who moved to the states and learnt about bikes when he was 21, he later relocated to Europe and brought his own particular style and panache ironically to a country with draconian vehicular alteration laws. He now runs a successful underground garage re-building beautiful old Harleys and has forged his identity as one of Europe’s most intriguing restorers. This 1974 FX Shovelhead has had just about everything but the frame altered and sports an 80ci S&S motor and 5-speed transmission, so has the balls to keep up with its fast appearance. Click the link below for more photos, but have a look at some of the other bikes on his blog also, they’re all a great mix between old and new elements and it’s not all that common to see café racers of this pedigree built on such old and rare Harley frames.
