German tuner Brabus ventured into new worlds, partnering with Axopar Boats Oy to create the Brabus Shadow 800. The boat was extremely limited, with only 100 examples being made. Now Brabus is getting even more exclusive, creating the “Black Ops” version of the Shadow, and dubbing it the Brabus Shadow 900 Spyder. Only 37 of these super stealthy boats will be made.
“Packed with technical innovation and blistering performance at heart,” the Brabus Shadow 900 is completely hand-built in order to ensure the highest levels of precision and quality. The finish alone requires six weeks of dedicated work to reach the desired quality in paint and finish. The hull also requires a great deal of attention to detail. The Shadow 900’s hull went through hours upon hours of research and development before being subjected to CFD testing and physical sea trials. What came of all this research is a hull that offers increased performance, including a higher top speed of over +10 knots. Fuel consumption was also dropped, and a cruising speed with a flexible range of 30 to 40 knots and up to 50 knots. The power for that speed comes from Mercury Marine’s 450R Verado XL 4.6 litre V8 FourStroke engines. These engines weigh 135kg less than their competitors, coming in at a slim 320kg each. They offer 40 per cent more torque than a 400 horsepower engine, granting plenty of “get up and go” capability. Control comes courtesy of an easy to manage Joystick Piloting system, which facilitates docking and maneuvering.
Brabus steps in with its work on the interiors and adventure gear, including a wet bar package that offers an integrated electric grill, wash-hand basin, and a top-loading fridge. You can choose from a passenger-friendly version with a sun top, or go for the open experience of the Spyder. With plenty to offer—in terms of performance and comfort—this limited edition will go fast, both on the water and on the showroom floor.
