Lazzarini’s New Superyacht Has a ‘Gaping Hole’ in the Middle

When you’re travelling across the globe by sea, the last thing you want to hear is ‘you’ve got a hole in your boat’, but that’s exactly what superyacht designer Lazzarini has done with its latest release. The new Shape concept, a 226-foot yacht developed to tackle the roughest of adventures comes complete with a monumental void encased in the very centre of the watercraft. Trust us when we say, no bung can clog this hole.

It’s not the first time Lazzarini has pushed the envelope in terms of yacht design. The brand is known for its innovative and disruptive appraoch to modern watercraft, but the Shape Concept is another world entirely. A truly unique silhouette, the Shape is defined by its sleek likes and cascading silver hull, not to mention the buffet for next-gen technology that features throughout.

But all eyes are on what is not there – the gaping abyss that is the ‘hole deck’. The vacant space is left open, both literally and metaphorically, with the client able to customise it to suit their needs. Accessed via a door at the vessel’s bow, the space can play host to lounge parties, relaxation sessions or essentially anything that tickles your fancy.

Once you get past the hole, you are treated to a luxurious interior that sits just short of 115 feet. According to Lazzarini, there will be six VIP suites on the first deck with living quarters situated on the second.

On the upper deck, you’ll find a glass-bottomed infinity pool that gives swimmers a chance to look down at the ‘hole deck’ beneath and a helipad to facilitate travel. At the stern, there is a waterside beach club with a diving platform and an additional garage for all your accessories.

Best of all, the new Lazzarini Shape is a clean piece of conceptual art. Once built, the superyacht will be powered by an advanced propulsion system that runs on hydrogen. To further bolster the eco-credentials, it will also be fitted with rooftop solar panels to generate electricity for the onboard amenities. While no pricing has been announced just yet, you can’t help but think this superyacht might draw some serious interest. We certainly know one billionaire who has a spare berthing.
