The major cruise lines are in supersize mode right now. Cruise ships keep getting larger and larger every year. The biggest ship at sea holds more than 6,000 passengers. As cruise ships get bigger, service becomes less personalised. Luxury brand Ritz-Carlton aims to reverse this trend with the launch of its cruise line in 2019.
The luxury hotelier, part of Marriott International, announced its entry into the cruise business. The brand will focus on the luxury market and bring high-class service to the sea with its Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection.
Initially, the fleet will consist of three luxury yachts. Each ship will measure about 190 metres. In stark contrast to the behemoths currently on the seas, Ritz Carlton’s ships will hold just 298 passengers. They will provide guests with an upscale experience—similar to that of a boutique hotel. There will be 149 staterooms on board. Each will have its veranda; There will also be two exclusive penthouse suites. The interiors of the suites will be designed by famed design studio Tillberg Design of Sweden.
Cruisers will be able to enjoy plenty of pampering on these cruise ships. There will be a signature Ritz-Carlton spa offering the latest treatments. Foodies will enjoy delicious meals at the restaurant which will feature creations by the chef at Aqua, which is Ritz Carlton’s three-star Michelin restaurant.
Due to the small size of these ships, they have the ability to dock where larger cruise ships cannot. This offers globe-trotting passengers to visit some of the most exquisite destinations in the world.
