Sealegs 38m tender 3

Sealegs 3.8m is the World’s Most Compact Amphibious Production Boat

In the yacht world, things tend to go bigger rather than smaller, but Sealegs, a manufacturer of amphibious boats, just the opposite holds true. The New Zealand based company is releasing their smallest tender yet, the Sealegs 3.8m.

“Today’s release of the 3.8-metre tender acknowledges the overwhelming enthusiasm for a Sealegs amphibious solution to solve the ship-to-shore challenges of many boaties,” says Sealegs CEO David Mckee Wright. “The team at Sealegs are excited to meet that need which has been passionately expressed to us by many aspirational amphibians.”

The smaller tender follows on the coattails of Sealegs’ previous release, a 12-meter version that is easily one of the largest amphibious production boats on the market. The 3.8m tender measures just 1 metre in height and weighs less than 450kg, making it something that can easily be stowed away in a yacht’s transom garage, lazarette, or even on deck.

The Sealegs’ 3.8m Tender uses an electric amphibious drive system to power the fibreglass craft. The system can be fully recharged in three hours and provides 45 minutes of drive time. Orca Hypalon inflatable tubes add to the buoyancy. The tender has space for up to five people and comes with a 40 horsepower outboard motor. With just the push of a button, you can deploy the wheels as you transition to and from water.

It can also be outfitted with a chartplotter, VHF, and a stereo system and it features a storage locker in the bow of the boat to hold all the cargo after a day of shopping onshore, or for supplies for a picnic off the yacht. Sealegs plans to start production on the 3.8m tender in 2022, with pricing starting at USD$75,000. Sealegs is already receiving deposits to reserve one, with plans to fulfil requests in the order they are received.
