Gooding and Company has a rare 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Safari on auction, and this little sports car looks like it’s ready to take on the Serengeti. To start with, the Safari is “Euro-spec,” meaning that the car doesn’t necessarily adhere to all the regulations that U.S. cars do (translation: more power due to less energy-robbing add-ons). This particular Porsche took things a step further and was outfitted for all-weather driving and rallies, including taking out the sunroof. The work was done by noted specialists John and Ray Paterek.
The car comes with a 3,16 CC air-cooled SOHC flat six cylinder engine with Bosch Mototronic fuel injection. The engine puts out 231 BHP at 5,900 RPM and is a five speed manual transaxle. Plus you’ll have four wheel ventilated disc brakes and a fully independent suspension with torsion bars.
The sporty red and white color scheme gives the car the feeling of being a true racing champion. Inside, the checkerboard seats are backed up to a roll cage. The car comes with a certificate of authenticity from Porsche.
If you’re looking for a car that will turn heads as it runs rallies, and if you have a spare $70,000 to $90,00 lying around, then this 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Safari is what you need.
