The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Laureus may have only begun production in early 2016, but it’s already risen to the top echelons of the racing world. Since production began, only 106 cars have been produced, with only about 50 teams racing with those cars. Because of its proven reliability and competitiveness, the GT3 has been entered into and competed in many of the world’s most challenging and grueling motorsport events, including the 24 Hours of Dubai, the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, and the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. Of the 450 races the car has competed in, it has earned 85 overall victories and 168 class victories.
RM Sotheby’s is offering a 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Laureus with a special kick to the listing—all the proceeds of the sale will go to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. The foundation is active in over 40 countries. Professional athletes support over 100 different projects worldwide. The aim of the foundation is to support disadvantaged children through the power of sports to improve their lives.
The GT3 being offered features a number of unique qualities, including unique finishes. The car is capable of 650 bhp thanks to a number of software and hardware modifications. The chrome paintwork gives the car a mirror-like reflection accented by exposed carbon fiber parts. The GT3 has also had the FIA-required restrictors removed and features a custom exhaust system that doesn’t have mufflers.
