At the Paris Motor Show, Audi revealed its 2019 R8 LMS GT3 EVO, the fourth new model in as many years. The next generation of Audi’s gentleman racer features a facelift that serves more than just looks. The front fascia and splitter provide a more consistent and predictable downforce. At the same time, airflow to the rear end is simplified by the changes, which improves heat evacuation on the brakes. Current owners of the R8 LMS GT3 shouldn’t fret—the EVO body kit will be available with its improved aerodynamics as a retrofit.
Audi also kept the engine the same; though, to be honest, it’s not like the R8 needed any work done there. The EVO kept its naturally aspirated 5.2 litre V10, so the new model will keep its estimated 580 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is another story. Audi newly designed gear teeth, reinforced bearings, and added a stronger clutch with rebuild intervals cut down by fifty per cent all to make the transmission more durable.
If you’re in the market, deliveries of the new car are slotted for November, with a price tag of USD$460,000.
