\u201cIf it ain\u2019t broke, don\u2019t fix it.\u201d Wise words that, thankfully, Mercedes didn\u2019t listen to when it came to the 2019 Mercedes AMG G63 SUV. For the first time since 1979, Mercedes did a full redesign of their popular G-Wagen.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nMercedes started by addressing the under-performing suspension and steering of the AMG. By getting rid of the solid front axle and giving the rear a five-link set up with coil springs, not to mention adding adaptive dampers, as well as improving the steering system with a variable ratio and speed sensitive rack, the new AMG should be a dream to handle.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe engine promises to hit 60 mph 0.9 seconds faster than the previous model, coming in at 4.4 seconds. If you opt for the Driver\u2019s Package, top speed will be 149 mph; otherwise you\u2019ll have to \u201csettle\u201d for 137. That speed is made possible by the 577 horsepower axis-shifting 621 pound-feet of torque 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8. Fuel economy is boosted in this model by cylinder deactivation. The AMG uses 4Matic all-wheel drive to deliver that power, with a 40:60 front to rear toque split.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nLook wise, the AMG will be recognizable\u2014Mercedes didn\u2019t stray far from the classic original design. Color schemes are also classic and classy.
