2022 Porsche 911 Sport Classic Unveiled, Australian Pricing Confirmed

We're not joking.

Last year we wrote about the equally as delicious Australian Exclusive 70-Year 911 GT3 Touring and it brought us to our knees with the plaid interior and plain jane exterior – Porsche being Porsche, they just had to do it again. This time they’re reviving the Sport Classic name in conjunction with Porsche Manufaktur for 1250 examples of the 992 series 911 sporting retro graphics, gold badging, 405kW engine, rear-wheel drive, and Manual Transmission. Now you know why…

Porsche 911 Sport Classic

Power: 405kW
Transmission: 7-speed manual, rear-wheel drive.
Acceleration: 4.1s (0-100km/h).
Top speed: 315km/h

The appearance of the vehicle is inspired by the original 911 (1964 – 1973) and the 1972 911 Carrera RS 2.7. Paintwork takes inspiration from the early ‘Fashion Grey’ Porsche 356 cars and the theme carries over from the 997 gen 911 Sport Classic, but this time sees a metallic finish. And, if that doesn’t tickle your fancy you can have it in Black, Agate Grey, Gentian Blue, or Paint to Sample.

“The Heritage Design models represent the most emotionally driven concepts of the Porsche product strategy… This unique approach sees the Style Porsche design department working with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur to reinterpret iconic 911 models and equipment from the 1950s through to the 1980s and to revive design features from those decades,” said Alexander Fabig, Vice President of Individualization and Classic – doesn’t that sound like a dream job?

In 2020 we saw the launch of the Heritage edition 911 Targa 4S – that gorgeous burgundy number with the white decals – and the forthcoming 911 Sport Classic will carry that lineage, but with a LOT more power. The most powerful manual Porsche 911 in history the Sport Classic will receive the 3.7-litre, twin-turbo flat-six engine putting down 405 kW (550 PS) to the road via the rear wheels only. Auto-blipping downshifts on the 7-speed gearbox and standard sports exhaust round out the experience for the driver.

Suspension is based on the 911 Turbo and 911 GTS models with standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), including a 10mm lower ride height.

The Porsche 911 Sport Classic can be ordered now, with prices starting from $599,100 AUD before on-road costs. Australian deliveries are expected to commence from Q4 2022. Porsche Design has also created a high-quality chronograph exclusively available to drivers who purchase the collector’s edition vehicle.
