Acura 2022 NSX Type S Sells Out in Under 24 Hours
In a stunning announcement, all 300 allocated 2022 Acura NSX Type S sportscars destined for the US have now sold out. The blockbuster result comes just weeks after the carmaker unveiled a first look at the long-awaited vehicle at the 2021 Monterey Car Week. It was at this event that Acura explained that while interest was high, only 350 NSX Type S cars would be produced globally, of which, 300 were heading stateside. Now, it appears, that short-supply has already been snapped up. And quick.

According to reports, a source within Acura told Motor1.com that all of the US-market Type S models were reserved (with deposits), within the first 24 hours. The publication revealed that there is a waiting list stretching more than 100 people, however, it’s unlikely that reservation holders will change their minds,
With a host of cosmetic and performance upgrade loaded as standard, the 2022 Acura NSX Type S models usher in a new era of sports vehicle, one littered with nostalgia. Prices start from USD$169,500, and cars equipped with the lightweight package cost USD$182,500, however, Motor1 reports the first VIN sold for much more.

So, what makes the new NSX Type S worth the wait? The limited-run car takes what is already a fan favourite and revamps it for the modern age, adding a more aggressive front fascia, along with new carbon elements like the rear diffuser and side sills. Under the hood, the new sportscars cops a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 hybrid is up to 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) and 492 pound-feet (667 newton-meters). The nine-speed dual-clutch gearbox has also been retuned, offering 50 per cent quicker upshifts and a new rapid downshift mode.
Naturally, fans of the original NSX have been quick to show their praise, and there could be more to come. Reports are already suggesting a third-gen, all-electric NSX is very likely in the ‘not-too-distant future’, but don’t hold your breath. If the first run sold out in less than 24 hours, you can bet an all-electric model will go just as fast.
