Acura Integra

For the First Time in 20 Years, the Acura Integra is Making a Comeback

For the first time in more than 20 years, the Acura Integra will return to the manufacturer’s line-up in 2022. As one of Japan’s most celebrated front-wheel performance cars, the surprise announcement understandably shocked fans attending the launch of the NSX Type S yesterday during Monterey Car Week 2021. With official details yet to be released, here’s everything we know so far about the 2022 Acura Integra | (See November 2021 update).

During the NSX Type S debut in California, a squadron of drones lit up the sky in the form of the first-generation Integra, before morphing into the upcoming model. Then, the word Integra was illuminated, revealing the bombshell to onlookers in the crowd. With minimal details yet to be issued, journalists were able to capture some images to give us a peek at the new sporty compact shape.

Rumours of the vehicle have been floating around for some time, with a leaked image hitting the internet, only to be shot down as ‘fakes’ by Acura. However, a teaser image from the automaker’s official account highlights the headlight design of the new Integra, which are accented by the same script below the lenses as the older variants – indicating the design could hark back to its iconic shape.

Unfortunately, the press release is vague at best as we were simply told the Integra “will rejoin the performance brand’s product portfolio as a new compact premium entrant next year,”. Furthermore, the Acura VP and brand officer Jon Ikeda didn’t offer anything substantial when he said: “I’m thrilled to say Integra is returning to the Acura lineup with the same fun-to-drive spirit and DNA of the original, fulfilling our commitment to Precision Crafted Performance in every way – design, performance and the overall driving experience.”.

Nevertheless, we will keep an eye out for all the petrolheads out there, and report back as more information unfolds.
