Rocking long, tight and sexy curves along with prime performance features is the new Audi RS 5 Sportback, which made its grand debut at the recent New York International Auto Show. This marks the first time that the RS 5 is available as a Sportback, and the German luxury automaker expect their new five-door high-performance coupé to conquer the world accordingly. Indeed, by pairing eye-catching design with ample power and supreme usability, Audi Sport’s latest is simply brimming with international appeal.
From the new Audi RS 5 Sportback, expect an extended wheelbase and long wraparound engine cover with power dome. That’s joined by quattro blisters on the flanks, which emphasise the newly extended bulges over the wheelhouses. At the front of the car is a single-frame honeycomb grille with solid air intakes, and a front spoiler adorned with matte aluminium quattro lettering. At the back is an exhaust system that’s sporty in aesthetic and unique to the RS range, with oval tailpipes and a fixed spoiler lip.
Powering the car is a 2.9 TFSI V6 twin turbo engine, which produces 450 hp, reaches top speeds of 173 mph and gets the Sportback from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds. Also featured is quattro permanent all-wheel drive and eight-speed tiptronic transmission with optimised shift times. Thanks to a strategically asymmetrical 40:60 distribution of balance between the axles, the car delivers supremely dynamic handling, steadfast traction and the utmost in control.
Slip inside the new Audi RS 5 Sportback to find a square shaped interior dressed in black. Up front is a flat-bottomed RS multifunction sports leather steering wheeling bearing the RS emblem. That emblem can also be found on the Nappa leather sport seats, the sill panel strips and the selector lever. There’s room for five so bring the whole family–they certainly won’t be complaining. Audi expects the RS 5 Sportback to arrive in Australia later this year.
