It takes a pure feat of automotive strength to stand out at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, and the Koenigsegg Jesko was definitely up to the task. Bolstered by a re-designed V8 engine, radical Light Speed Transmission, and advanced aerodynamics, this extraordinary hypercar (or “megacar” as the brand dubs it) will reportedly be the first to legally hit the road at 300 mph. Koenigsegg’s latest is limited to just 125 units, which is probably a good thing given its road-legal status and outrageous top speed.
Just beyond the Jesko’s carbon fibre chassis and lightweight exterior is the kind of twin-turbo V8 engine most car junkies dream of. Features include bigger turbos with air injection, improved pressure control, new intake, and the world’s lightest production V8 crankshaft. As a result, the engine produces either 1280 hp on standard gasoline or 1600 hp on E85 biofuel with the utmost tier of efficiency.
Perched alongside the hypercar’s radical engine is Koenigsegg’s new Light Speed Transmission, a 9-speed multi-clutch creation that eschews traditional synch rings and alternates between gears in the literal blink of an eye. To ensure consistent precision and stability, Koenigsegg’s F1-style elongated double-wishbone suspension hosts an additional Triplex front damper and dynamic rear-wheel steering. Thanks to upgraded aerodynamics, the Jesko furthermore delivers over 1000kg of downforce.
Open the Jesko’s re-engineered dihedral synchro-helix door and step into its cosy, tech-laden interior. Here, you’ll find a TFT touchscreen, USB inputs, Bluetooth connectivity, automated climate control, leather or Alcantara trim, ‘bird’s eye view’ parking assistance, and loads of additional safety features. Oh, and did we mention the carbon fibre roof is removable, allowing you to choose between coupé or convertible? Should you opt for the latter, prepare for a roller-coaster-like experience.
