2022 Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Blackline Crosses to the Dark Side

What would you do if you have a growing number of customers requesting a specific service? For example, British luxury carmaker Bentley has seen requests for blacked-out trim on their Continental GT orders rise to 38 percent. Like any smart company, Bentley has taken note of this trend and has decided to take a proactive step. They’re now offering a Mulliner Blackline option for the Continental GT, and it looks just as sinister as you might expect it to.

The Blackline option turns all the exterior brightwork—with the exception of the Bentley badge—a rich black. What does that mean exactly? Well, the grille trim is black with bright edges. The mirror caps have a Beluga Black finish. The 22-inch wheels are painted black and they feature a self-leveling Bentley badge with chrome rings. And it’s not just the outside that’s getting a special treatment. Inside the Mulliner Blackline model you’ll find the Mulliner Driving Specification with “diamond on diamond” quilting on the upholstery for the seats, doors, and rear quarter panels. Those diamonds don’t come easily, either. According to Bentley the seats require 712 individual stitches for each diamond, tallying up to over 400,000 individual stitches in the entire cabin. Now that’s a “true mark of unrivaled automotive craftsmanship” if ever there has been one. You also get your choice of eight three-color interior combinations. You can get the Mulliner Blackline option in both the coupes and convertibles. Under the hood of this option, you’ll find either the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 and it’s 542 horses and 568 lb-ft of torque or the 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 engines with its 626 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque.

While Bentley has been pretty forthcoming in terms of colors and other features, they haven’t said much in terms of pricing. Given what you can expect to pay for the regular models, you could probably plan on a price tag starting around $218,000 for the V8 coupe and running upwards of $250,000 for the W12 convertible.
