The David Brown Speedback Silverstone Edition is the automobile embodiment of the Jet Age. The 1960s saw the world enamored with jetting around the world. The Speedback Silverstone ties into that age by paying tribute to the GT racers of the past. The aluminum body is streamlined so that it’s sleek appearance accentuates the power of the car. And there is definitely power to match up with that jet inspiration. The eight cylinder, four valve engine tops out at 601 horsepower connected to a six-speed ZF tiptronic automatic transmission. The Speedback Silverstone will hit 60 in just 4.2 seconds and can reach 155 miles per hour.
While this is definitely a racer, it’s also a luxury vehicle. In fact, the attention to detail is so intense that the paint job is an eight week process, giving the car an exclusive “Fly by Night” exterior. The sports seats are heated with multi-way adjustment. The leather is hand-trimmed and embroidered. The black leather steering wheel is contrast stitched with the matching tan of the leather, and is flat bottomed to give it a unique look. The switchgear is milled from a solid aluminum billet and then chrome plated. The instrument panel is also handcrafted. Then there’s also the wood veneers of ebony Macassar wood, and the fold-down rear of the cabin that offers 500 liters of luggage capacity.
With such detailed work going into the car, it’s no wonder that production will be limited to just ten cars.
