Ford Reveals its Primal Nature and Officially Announces the Ranger Raptor Ute
Ford has turned the clock right back to a primal era before there were even roads with the announcment that it’s hugely popular Ranger Pickup (or ute) will receive an off-road variant in 2018 dubbed the ‘Ford Ranger Raptor.’
The purpose-built, desert-racing inspired Ranger Raptor is designed and engineered to deliver an adrenaline pumping experience. The truck sports a bold, head-turning exterior that exudes toughness as well as a level of capability and off-road performance never before seen in the mid-size pickup. “Combining the Raptor’s advanced off-road capabilities with the versatility of the Ranger is a significant accomplishment for Ford’s world-class engineering and design teams,” said Jamal Hameedi, chief engineer, Ford Performance. It’s an exciting announcement but frustratingly difficult to admire the exterior as Ford has only teased us with the prototype.
Ford’s Ranger Raptor is the second vehicle to be dubbed ‘Raptor’ behind the F-150 Raptor, the world’s most popular and extreme production truck. The Ford Ranger Raptor joins the F-150 Raptor to advance Ford’s Performance DNA, complementing the on-road high-performance lineup that features one of our favourites, the sleeker, sharper, yet muscled 2018 Ford Mustang. Raptor is aspiring to become a class of its own among off-road performance vehicles. 2018 can’t come fast enough.
