Hennessey Performance has been tuning Ford Raptors, transforming the already impressive truck into a true beast—the VelociRaptor. Now that monster is even more monstrous. Hennessey if offering a V8 package that was just dyno-tested to capture some of its performance metrics. You already know, given Hennessey’s well-earned reputation, that you’re going to be impressed.
The VelociRaptor starts out as a second-generation Raptor F150. Hennessey takes out the factory 3.5-litre V6 EcoBoost and puts a 5.0-litre V8 in its place. The V8 is supercharged, putting its power output at 758 horsepower—at least on paper. What the dyno testing discovered was that the VelociRaptor delivers a powerful 557 horsepower and 449 lb-ft of torque directly to the wheels.
That stat puts the VelociRaptor on the same level as a Mustang GT, which goes from 0 to 100 in just 4.2 seconds and completes a quarter-mile in 12.2 seconds with speeds of 115 miles per hour. The powerhouse is mated with Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission.
The package comes in response to customer pleas. “Our customers have been begging for a V8 option for their new Raptors since the truck came out in early 2017. We heard their calls and are so pleased to meet this need in the market. The sound of the VelociRaptor V8 is so worth it!” states John Hennessey, the company founder, and CEO.
It’s not just the motor that Hennessey touches up. The bumpers are new, as are the LED front lights. A Stage 2 off-road suspension is also added in, along with 20-inch wheels shod in 37-inch BF Goodrich KM03 off-road tires. Hennessey badging is added throughout, including being embroidered on the headrests.
Only 100 units will be made for the 2019 model year. They can be purchased directly from Hennessey or from authorized Ford dealers.
