Jaguar just unveiled a super sedan equipped with a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 that puts out 592 horsepower and 516 feet-pound of torque. Jaguar’s XE SV Project 8? is the fastest, most powerful Jaguar road car ever. It can reach speeds of 200 mph and go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds.
A prototype of the supercar was shown off at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. As expected the prototype dominated the show sounding like a small Earthquake when it started up. It certainly turned heads. The actual XE SV will be revealed at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.
The XE SV Project 8 was built by Jaguar’s parent company Land Rover. The Special Vehicles Operations unit hand-built this special Jaguar.
Although the body looks kind of similar to the regular XE, there are quite a few substantial differences. The bumpers and hood of this supercar are both made of carbon fibre to reduce the weight. The bodywork is wider than the original XE. This helps to accommodate fat sports tires. The underbody is flat, which helps with aerodynamics. The rear wing and front splitter are both adjustable.
The carbon ceramic brakes are equipped with racing brake fluid to help this supercar come to a screeching halt. A height-adjustable suspension features active dampers.
The interior of this sedan is outfitted with Alcantara suede and carbon fibre. There are several Project 8 logo patches to signify the importance of this prototype. The gauge cluster has a 12.3-inch digital display. There is also a 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen. Other feature includes a 4G wi-fi hotspot and a premium Meridian sound system that is equipped with 11 speakers.
