Because a hypercar can’t live up to its true potential until it’s painted cherry red, Koenigsegg is releasing a special edition Jesko painted in the iconic color.
The Jesko Cherry Red Edition 10 will be limited to just 125 examples with production starting in 2020. The price tag might leave you in the red—the one-off edition will cost over $3 million. Of course, it makes sense that the special edition would come at such a hefty cost when you considered who requested the build—online luxury car sales portal “Luxuryandexpensive.”
The Cherry Red Edition uses a prolific amount of carbon fiber to keep the weight down and to push performance up. The car weighs in at a slight 3,130 pounds—and that includes all the fluids. It’s not just the panels that are made of carbon fiber. Koenigsegg had the 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels made of fiber. Just like the other Jeskos, the Cherry Red edition comes with carbon fiber louvers on the top and front fenders as well as a large vent on the front hood. For the other Jeskos, that means a downforce measuring 1,764 pounds at 155 miles per hour; the force jumps up to 2,205 pounds at 171 miles per hour. There’s no reason to doubt that the Cherry Red will have similar performance.
Speaking of performance, the hyper car will produce 1,600 horsepower and 1,106 lb-ft of torque thanks to the 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine sitting under the hood. The Cherry Red will hit 60 from 0 in just 2.2 to 2.5 seconds, and may just be possible of hitting the 300 miles per hour mark for its top speed.
The interior is a bit of a mystery. With only the other Jesko models to compare, it’s safe to assume that the Cherry Red edition will be filled with leather and Alcantara upholstery. No doubt you’ll also see climate control, adjustable sports seats, an advanced infotainment system, and a “Smartwheel,” which includes a five-inch gyroscopic speedometer mounted in the wheel itself.
With the stats to back it up, the limited edition Koenigsegg Jesko Cherry Red won’t be seen often, and even then, only as a red blur.
