When you talk racing, you don’t necessarily envision an SUV, but that might just be because you’re not a part of Lamborghini’s Squadra Corse. Thankfully, that innovative team has put together a concept car that is a racing version of the first Lamborghini Super SUV: the Urus ST-X Concept. The SUV is meant to compete in a race that combines both circuit and off-road tracks.
The Urus has been mechanically optimized and equipped to compete in FIA-approved circuits, and comes in an “arrive and drive” formula, meaning that it’s a complete package including both car and technical support during race weekends.
The Urus features larger air intakes, which will be needed to cool the V8 twin-turbo engine capable of 641 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. A rear wing provides more downforce, while the hexagonal design of the lateral racing exhausts gives a menacing feel to the ride. The stunning green of the SUV makes it a standout, as does the carbon fiber hood. The Urus also comes with FIA-approved safety elements, such as a steel roll cage, a fire suppression system, and an FT3 fuel tank.
The Urus is set to debut in Europe and the Middle East in 2020.
