Land Rover Celebrates 70th Anniversary by Unleashing a Defender Works V8
If you can believe it, the first Land Rover debuted all the way back in 1948. Here we are 70 years later and the brand is still cranking out hits like its nobody’s business. To celebrate their birthday in formidable style, Jaguar Land Rover has resurrected their classic Defender and equipped it with a 5.0-litre, naturally aspirated V8 engine. Dubbed the Land Rover Defender Works V8, the powerful and sporty SUV is truly firing on all cylinders, no pun intended.
Available in limited supply (reportedly only 150 units have been produced), the Land Rover Defender Works V8 is like something out of an off-roader’s wildest fantasies. From the new V8 engine, expect 400 hp, 387 lb-ft of torque, and the ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. Also featured are new suspension parts, improved brakes, 18″ alloy wheels and eight-speed automatic transmission.
Slip inside Land Rover’s latest and you’ll find Recaro sport seats and an interior decked out in Windsor Leather. Up front is the latest in Land Rover’s own infotainment system. Suffice to say, the Land Rover Defender Works V8 is beautiful inside and out, and ready for pretty much any terrain or adventure you can throw its way. Unfortunately, your odds of scoring one are essentially nil–not that it should stop you from trying.
