You already know that FJ Company puts together some really impressive Land Cruisers. What you may not know, however, will have you clicking over to their web site to get them started on your own custom Land Cruiser. FJ Company has paired with New York menswear designer Todd Snyder to put together a custom build that includes, among other things, Red Wing leather.
The Todd Snyder Edition G43 comes in four custom colours: Slate Blue, Camel Tan, Ox Blood, and Military Olive. Each is a completely restored steel body. Each Land Cruiser comes with a modern 1FZ-FE Toyota engine paired with an automatic transmission (alternatively you could opt for the 4.0L V6 engine or a five-speed manual transmission).
This powerhouse puts out a respectable 228 horsepower. FJ Company further sweetens the deal with an Old Man Emu suspension and power steering. Upfront, they add in LED headlights and fog lights.
Of course, FJ Company didn’t turn to a menswear fashion designer to help with specs on the engine and performance. It’s on the interior that you’ll see Snyder’s input. Red Wing leather references the Red Wing Shoe Company. One of the most prolific boot makers in America, Red Wing is based in Minnesota on the Mississippi river just south of the Twin Cities (in a town named “Red Wing” if you’re wondering).
The company makes over 1 million pairs of boots each year, a process that starts with the leather. Red Wing sources their leather from S.B. Foot Tanning Company. Since 1872, S.B. Foot Tanning has been producing leather. Rather than slapping some leather onto a worker’s feet, this time the leather went to the seats and door panels of the Land Cruiser.
This limited edition Land Cruiser is built on a 1970 to 1983 FJ43 chassis and comes with an optional hard top. You can pick up Snyder’s design for USD$185,000, or create your own custom vehicle.
