McLaren Will Introduce Its Fifth Longtail Model in Less Than a Week

The masterminds at McLaren Automotive have a need for speed and they’re not slowing down any time soon. On the heels of a wildly successful 2018, the brand is racing ahead with its Track25 business plan and currently teasing a new Longtail model. Similar to previous LTs, this one was developed to achieve prime power, reduced weight, and improved aerodynamics. McLaren isn’t confirming the iteration just yet, but it appears to be a 600LT Spider based on the teaser image and accompanying short film. The LT will be the fifth in the series, and available in extremely limited supply.

With its fifth LT model, McLaren continues a legacy that goes back to 1997. That was when the brand introduced the F1 GTR ‘Longtail,’ a competitor in the FIA GT Championship. It wouldn’t be until 2015 that McLaren churned out another model in the form of the 675LT Coupé, which was followed by a 675LT Spider and then a 600LT Coupé. Each iteration quickly sold out, and this latest one is likely to do the same. McLaren will officially introduce it on 16 January. Until then, the above teaser image and adjoining short film will have to suffice.
