A premium sports car with room for the whole family, the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is high powered luxury on wheels. Meanwhile, those four doors and some extra room are pretty much the only compromises this aerodynamic stunner is willing to make. In other words, this is not the “fast version” of a sedan–it’s the genuine article with four doors instead of two. Comparisons to the Porsche Panamera are perhaps inevitable, but that isn’t stopping Mercedes-AMG’s beautiful machine from turning all sorts of heads at the Geneva Motorshow.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe comes in three core models. At the base is a GT 53 hybrid that delivers 429 hp out of a CLS six-cylinder engine with electronic accompaniments. In the middle is a GT 63, which comes equipped with 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and brings 577 hp to the table. At the top of the line is the 63 S. It houses a 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engine that’s good for 630 hp, a top speed of 195 mph, and a 0-60 time of 3.1 seconds. All three models feature MCT 9-speed transmission, all-wheel drive and performance steering. Included in each interior are two 12.3 TFT displays.
Suffice to say, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe offers the best of two worlds, bringing the whole family along for a swift ride. Of course, if all the dads out there still want to go for the occasional joy ride while leaving the wife and kids at home, we completely understand.
