Mini Aceman EV Concept is a Funky Crossover With Built-In Projector

As the automotive world steadily moves towards all-electric, Mini is at the forefront with its Cooper SE, but not one to be left behind it’s just shown a funky SUV concept called Aceman with a built-in projector. If we had to hazard a guess, we think the production version of the Aceman will eventually replace the Clubman and slot in below the larger Countryman.

Measuring in with a length of 4.05 metres, the Aceman is a traditional compact SUV in terms of size and even features enough seats for a whole family of five. The healthy cladding, square wheel arches and a roof rack do make it more rugged looking than a Countryman. The grille is now octagonal and surrounded by LED contour lighting along with Matrix LED lights with the right headlight giving a ‘friendly wink’ when unlocked. The Matrix LED units also show the Union Jack graphic on the grille surface area.

If the exterior is fun then the interior is where the designers have really gone to town with their imagination as alongside a massive round OLED display there is also an interior projector. Step in and the projector throws up a smattering of colours on the roof, dashboard or door panels along with a colour burst projection on the main display. The interior design itself is minimalistic while decked up in Velour and textile made from recycled polyester. There’s no shortage of colours though with an eccentric palette of hues being used including purple seatbelts and bright orange speaker covers. Being electric, there is a modular centre console with no conventional controls and space is much more than what its compact footprint might suggest.

Leather or chrome has been shunned altogether and we’d expect a lot of personalization in form of colours and materials in the production version as well. Speaking of which, you can expect to see the Mini Aceman EV on the showroom floor as early as 2024 with the concept now being shown at a gaming event in Cologne.

Mini has not revealed technical specifications but expects a larger motor and battery pack over the current Mini electric- something which is crucial given this would be a family crossover.
