The 2018 F-Pace Rethinks Jaguar’s DNA

The 2018 F-Pace is Jaguar’s first luxury performance SUV. And they’re not kidding on the performance aspect. The F-Pace stays true to Jaguar’s DNA as a racing car. The SVR version is designed and engineered to house a 5.0 liter V8 engine. The F-Pace itself comes with an engine range of 380 horsepower 3.0 liter supercharged V6 (available in the F-Pace S), to a choice between a 2.0 liter turbo-charged 247 horsepower gasoline engine or 2.0 liter turbocharged 180 horsepower diesel (in the Ingenium range).

The all-wheel-drive system is controlled by Intelligent Driveline Dynamics software that provides agile handling and minimized understeer. The F-Pace learns to adapt to your driving style, and to the conditions of the road under you. Stop/start technology and regenerative charging uses kinetic energy from braking to charge the battery, increasing the fuel economy. Additionally, the advanced aluminum intensive architecture utilizes its lighter weight to improve efficiency with the same stiffness of steel. The combined lighter weight and stiffness improves handling and braking as well.

It’s not just performance that’s in the DNA of a Jaguar. Luxury is also there, and the F-Pace stays true to that heritage. The Sport version offers a jet black and red combo for the perforated Taurus leather seats, while the luxury edition comes in brogue.

For a first attempt at a luxury performance SUV, Jaguar delivers, but then, what would you expect from a car with that kind of DNA?
