Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) has put together a 2019 Yenko/SC Stage II Chevy Corvette that has enough horsepower to blow you out of the car if you don’t strap in and hold on tight. SVE, which owns the Yenko name, is building 25 limited edition Yenko/SC Stage II Corvettes that are said to deliver 1,000 horsepower with 855 lb-ft of torque.
The corvette actually starts as a 2019 Corvette Grand Sport coupe, but the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 is modified to a 6.8 and mated to a seven-speed manual transmission or eight-speed automatic. Yenko adds in Z06 components to the build—components like Brembo brakes with 14.6-inch rotors and six-piston calipers in the front with 14.4-inch two-piece steel rotors with four-piston calipers in the rear. You’ll also find Magnetic Ride Control dampers, a dry sump oil system, and an adjustable wickerbill spoiler, among other additions.
The classic look of the Corvette is still maintained with the Yenko build, but there’s an added sharpness to the car. It may be the color scheme—a black and red beauty that has a deep growl to it—that gives the car a keenness that looks like it can slice and dice its way through any track or course. Whatever it is, this is an intimidating car to look at. Strapping onto this 1,000 horse beast will take more than skill (and a deep pocketbook), it will take some pretty big cajones.
