When is a Mercedes more than a Mercedes? When it ends up in the hands of aftermarket tuning company BRABUS, naturally. This time around, the result is the BRABUS 4×4² Biturbo Final Edition “1 of 5,” which made a big splash at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Touted by BRABUS as the brand’s most powerful off-road supercar to date, it turns the Mercedes G 63 AMG SUV into an absolute beast.
Thanks to portal axles on the chassis, the 4×4² Biturbo Final Edition “1 of 5″ delivers a whopping 60 centimetres of ground clearance. Powering the off-roader is a BRABUS 850 6.0 Biturbo increased-displacement engine, which gets riders from 0 to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds. Also featured are a larger diameter intake for increased airflow, gold heat reflection material over some of the piping, and an exhaust with variable flaps, among other things.
Inside the SUV, one will find BRABUS Mastik leather upholstery with perforations on the seat center sections and square quilting. Always within the driver’s reach is a 4.3″ Touch Control Panel, which comes integrated into the top of the console. Not only does this panel control all seat functions, but it furthermore grants access to the COMAND system and air conditioner, respectively.
Put everything together and you get a quintessential and supremely formidable luxury SUV, with a (reported) US$550,000 price tag to show for it.
