“The Devil Horse” 1968 Ford Bronco Conquered Hell Seven Times

“As soon as the first NORRA rally was announced back in 2009,” says Jaynes, “I started to look for a Bronco and found this 1968 model on Craigslist in San Diego. It was cherry and I gave the seller USD$10K and the truck changed hands.”

Jaynes then went to work transforming the Bronco, a process that took five years.

Jaynes started with a brand new Ford Performance Parts X2347 V8 crate engine, which pumps out 360 horsepower. Hitting the 1,300-mile course requires a good suspension, and Jaynes added in Fox performance parts to match up with the Yokohama Geolander M/T tires.

A bare-bones roll cage was added with twin fire extinguishers. The work paid off, as the Devil’s Horse claimed an amazing seven wins of the Mexican 1,000 Baja Race.
