The vehicle responsible for Maserati’s sales climbing by 50% so far this year is coming to Australia with a new model that exemplifies the luxury Italian brand’s heritage of sport and performance.
The Levante S is Maserati’s luxury SUV powered by a Ferrari-made Twin Turbo petrol V6 engine that sets a benchmark by pushing the vehicle from 0-100km/h in 5.2 seconds and delivers a top speed of 264km/h. In comparison, the turbo-diesel model has a top speed of 230km/h. It’s the extra 118kw of power that does the trick.
The advanced chassis and active suspension with five ride heights enable the Levante S to offer both a quintessential Maserati driving experience while on the road and an extraordinary level of ability off-road – sand dunes for instance. To support the upgraded 316 kW engine, the Levante S gained more powerful brakes and larger wheels fitted with wider, low profile rear tyres to ensure it maintains the traditional rear bias handing that’s expected of sports cars, even if it’s a versatile five-seat SUV. You can also expect top-of-the-line safety features such as Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Alert and Adaptive Cruise Control.
The extra-spacious interior and superbly ergonomic front seats provide excellent support, regardless of the terrain. Passengers in the rear benefit from an asymmetrically split leather bench seat. The intuitive 8.4-inch touchscreen provides effortless control over the on-board equipment. Fine-tuning the climate control, accessing iPhone or Android smartphones, setting a route on the sat nav, or selecting the perfect soundtrack for your journey are only a tap away. And by using the Aux-in and USB sockets or the SD card reader, the system can play music, films or display images.
Maserati is all about offering a truly personalised experience as all versions of the Levante can be highly customised with 13 colours to choose from and extras like Bowers & Wilkins or Harman Kardon sound systems and interior leather trim from the renowned fashion house of Ermenegildo Zegna.
The Maserati Levante S will enter the Australian market later in 2017. You can expect it to be priced from $160,000 AUD.
