The launch of the Aventador S means the next generation of Lamborghini V12 is here. The new flagship Lambo is defined by its new features that focus on aerodynamic performance, redeveloped suspension, increased power and new driving mechanics. This baby outputs 740 horsepower and can go from 0-100 in just 2.9 seconds. With a top speed of 350km per hour, it’s built for impressing folk on the autobahn.
While the vehicle’s profile clearly remains Aventador, there are some exterior developments such as a more aggressive nose and longer front splitter to redirect airflow and two air ducts on the side of the front bumper optimise wake flow to the rear radiator. The rear of the car is dominated by a black diffuser characterised by vertical fins that reduce drag and generate downforce. Three single exhausts exit from below.
The aerodynamic performance is significantly improved over past models with increased front downforce and low drag. The Aventador’s lightweight carbon fibre monocoque with attached aluminium frame results in a dry weight of just 1575kg. The active rear wing is movable depending on speed, and the chosen driver select mode to optimise the car’s overall balance.
The Aventador S is built around the concept of total control. The enhanced movement comes from the new four-wheel steering that works in tune with the dynamic steering and rear wheel steering for more natural response and tighter turn-in. At low speeds, the four-wheel steering creates an improved turning circle.
Inside the cockpit, the digital display can be customised according to driver preferences including quickly switching between driving modes. Apple Car Play comes standard, and the Lamborghini Telemetry System is an optional upgrade for recording lap times and track performance. Your bank account will want to have at least six zeros, or you better hope to have a great credit rating if you want one of these bad boys in your garage.
