There’s nothing quite like a supercar. The absolute peak of combining beauty, engineering, speed and power into one object, companies like Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini and other power players in the industry continually pump out cars that defy logic. Sadly, they also tend to defy price points that most of us can afford. That’s never stopped us from fawning over them upon release and that same obsession holds up with the release of the McLaren 675LT Spider.
This is McLaren’s second car to feature the LT (Long Tail) badge, and they will only make 500 of this one worldwide. This is unsurprising, as such a feat cannot be replicated too many times. Under the hood of the 675LT Spider sits the heavily revised 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 powertrain from the coupé sibling. With 666bhp delivered at 7,100rpm and 700Nm, the car is too powerful to imagine. This level of creation also includes new, more efficient turbos, detailed design changes to the cylinder heads and exhaust manifolds, new camshaft and lightweight connecting rods, and a faster-flowing fuel pump and delivery system. Acceleration from 0-60 is complete in 2.9 seconds, or about the time you can hit 20 in your boring old sedan. And with a top speed of 203mph, you can drive faster than will ever feel safe if you have the chance to get behind the wheel. Lastly, with a body composed largely of carbon fiber, the 675LT is lightweight and beautiful to look at. Marvel as much as you can before the 500 are sold out.
