Special edition Mercedes-AMG GTs have been coming out with increasing frequency over the last few years, and the 2017 Geneva Motor Show is ready to host the brand’s latest high-falutin’ offering. The AMG GT C Roadster Edition 50 has lots of exclusive features, like unique color/trim combos to go with plenty of special design touches. This limited edition sports car also comes with a broad range of standard gear.
The name sounds familiar, right? That’s because Mercedes released a similar model in the AMG GT C Coupe earlier this year. Like that version, the AMG GT C Roadster Edition 50 comes with a lot of exclusive treatments.
One very important piece of exclusive treatment lies beneath that long, sloped motor hatch- a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine that delivers 550 hp and 502 pound-feet of torque. That’s more muscular than the 503-horsepower AMG GT S Roadster and approaches the range-topping AMG GT R’s 577. With its impressive power numbers in full bloom, the AMG GT C Roadster Edition 50 is expected to jump 0 to 60 mph in a lung-crushing 3.7 seconds.
Mercedes plans to release only a cool 500 AMG GTC Roadster Edition 50s globally. That might sound like a lot compared to the other special edition models, but considering the popularity of this line of high-end performance/luxury cars and the opportunities that come with owning an AMG GTC Roadster, it’s safe to say those 500 units will be bought up in no time flat. Especially considering that for a model that’s paying homage to Mercedes’ performance department’s 50th anniversary.
The order ledgers opened on March 6, which, is a few days before the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
