Simplicity and progress are the driving philosophy behind the 2019 Husqvarna SVARTPILEN 701. There are plenty of add-ons and accessories for the bike, but the true heart of the 701 is the flat-track inspiration and the joy of riding.
The 701 uses a one-cylinder, four-stroke 692.7 cc engine capable of 75 peak horsepower and 72 Nm of torque. The engine uses a ride-by-wire system to control the electronic fuel injection. In the vein of keeping it simple, gears are shifted in the classic up and down easy shift.
The 701 is equipped with BREMBO disk brake callipers and comes with a BOSCH ABS system, which can be fully disengaged for more advanced riders. The front fork measures 43 mm and has a split damping function. In the rear, the bike uses a monoshock connected to the swing arm for its suspension.
The design of the 701 also stays true to the idea of simplicity. The tank ties in nicely to the seat, which continues the lines into the rear wing. The panels on the tank, marked “701,” may be a bit of a departure from the ideal of simplicity, but they also quickly become the focal point when admiring the bike.
This self-proclaimed street explorer is keeping it simple by giving you a ride that is meant for the joy of the ride.
