For its Spring/Summer 2017 collection, the sovereign of ultimate opulence, Rolls-Royce has used haute couture as its source of inspiration for its new Dawn car. The House of Rolls-Royce design director Giles Taylor asked for some assistance from the fashion world, fine textiles and luxury accessories designers, which include leather technologist, Michelle Lusby, who formerly worked for Mulberry.
The all-white exterior exemplifies the grandiose appeal of Rolls-Royce with an option between three colours; Mugello Red, Cobalt Blue or Mandarin for the folding roof, embroidered headrests and seat pipings. To further highlight its opulence and remind everyone why it remains the most luxurious vehicle money can buy, there is an integrated bespoke clock and piano-white dashboard that incorporates embedded aluminium particles for a silk-like appearance.
This process takes nine days of punctilious lacquering. Priced at $749,000, the closest most of us would get to this, is mostly like in DJ Khaled’s next music video, where he is surrounded by all his wealthy friends.
