Want a personal submarine so that you can take part in some deep sea exploration? Just imagine what kind of adventure you could have with your submarine. Well, the good news is that you can have one—if you have enough money anything is possible.
Dutch submarine manufacturer U-Boat Worx has been manufacturing submarines since 2005. They recently unveiled the C-Researcher 3-1100. This sub is suited for both scientific research organisations and private explorers. It can move at a speed of three knots and weighs 8,200 kg.
This vessel can reach 1,100 meters and has a range of 18 hours thanks to the new Pressure-Tolerant Battery System. This system allows for longer, deeper missions. U-Boat Worx research submarines have twice the battery capacity than any other submarine on the market. The abundance of power results in stronger electrical thrusters thus extending mission time while reducing the travel time between the ocean floor and the surface.
The C-Researcher 3-1100 is outfitted with four horizontal thrusters that also generate lateral thrust. This feature makes it possible to also move sideways with this vessel. This is very useful for research that requires significant accuracy in positioning.
The C-Researcher 3-1100 can be equipped with underwater cameras to document all of the wonders hidden in the ocean’s depths. The optional manipulator arms come in handy for researchers that want to manipulate objects on the floor of the sea. This submersible features a large acrylic sphere that provides an impressive view of the ocean.
