Apple iPhone 12 Leak Suggests Massive Redesign On the Way
For months, Apple fans have been speculating what the new flagship iPhone 12 would look like. Even this week’s iPhone SE announcement wasn’t enough to temper the flames, but it appears Apple fanatics may have finally got what they asked for. A new video, posted by YouTuber Filip Koroy, who goes by the name EverythingApplePro revealed what appears to be the first glimpse at the iPhone 12 design, and frankly, it’s huge. But how exactly did the YouTuber get his hands on the new tech, long-before a release date has even been set?
To put a long story short, he didn’t. In the video, Koroy cites well-known Apple leaker Max Weinbach as his primary source for the information. According to reports, Weinbach provided CAD files for the iPhone 12 Pro Max, although it was modified based on other information his source provided. From here, Koroy was able to mock up the design on a 3D printer, giving us a taste of how the Apple iPhone 12 will likely look. Here’s what the video suggests.

According to the information provided in the clip, the iPhone 12 Pro Max will be slightly thinner than the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Additionally, it will cop a larger display (6.7 inches, up from 6.5 inches), thanks to smaller bezels and an increased width. However, an alternative set of specs are making the rounds at the moment, perpetuated by the fact that Apple is still working on the design. This specific take would see a shorter notch, with a sharper curvature than that mocked up by Koroy.
Camera
In a somewhat unsurprising reveal, the clip also suggests that the iPhone 12 Pro Max will feature Apple’s new LiDAR sensor, which first appeared on the iPad Pro 2020. The sensor will deliver higher performance for augmented reality apps, with some analysts suggesting it will also boost photography capabilities. From a design perspective, the iPhone 12 Pro Max appears to take a number of cues from previous generations, most notably the iPhone 5. The flat sides are reminiscent of the older model, a characteristic that was reintroduced for the iPad Pro.
Performance
Koroy went on to report that the iPhone 12 will be Apple’s first 5G iPhone, which means the antenna bands will likely be enlarged for the final product. To help accommodate ergonomics, the side buttons have reportedly been moved down as well, making them more accessible with the larger design and speakers. However, the biggest reveal in Koroy’s video comes on the inside. A new A14 Bionic Chip, set to deliver a 120Hz refresh rate display with upgraded CPU has been rumoured, with the new addition maintaining the Lightning Port. If true, the new chip would make the iPhone 12 one of the most powerful smartphones on the market, elevating the flagship model to some pretty lofty heights.
It bears reminding that while the Koroy reveal video is huge news, nothing has been confirmed. At the moment, all we have are rumours, speculation and mounting confusion regarding the flagship smartphone. In fact, we may have to wait until October to see if the predictions ring true. Regardless, if the Weinbach leak ends up being the final design, we won’t be complaining. This is one beautiful looking phone.
