When Bang & Olufsen released their Beoplay E8 true wireless earbuds, there was plenty of excitement regarding the improvements the audio company had made for their third generation buds. What was even more surprising, however, was the inability of the buds to withstand a sweat-filled workout. But Bang & Olufsen have rectified that with the new Beoplay E8 Sport.
In addition to all the other improvements that Bang & Olufsen did for the E8, such as better sound quality, longer battery life, and improved calls, the Sport model bumps up its water resistance from an IP54 rating to an IP57. That may not sound like much, but it means that the earbuds can now withstand up to 30 minutes being fully immersed in one meter of water. The E8 motion was just splash resistant. With that kind of an upgrade, you don’t have to worry about being sweaty while wearing the earbuds.
What’s more, Bang & Olufsen added gripped details to the earbuds to improve your experience using the on-board controls even when your hands are slick with sweat. These controls let you skip tracks, take calls, and activate a transparency mode, among other features, with just a swipe or a tap. Bang & Olufsen also added in a selection of fins that will help to secure the buds in your ear while you’re out for a run or hitting the gym.
Battery life for the earbuds should come in at around seven hours and the case offers four additional charges, giving you a total of around 35 total hours. When it’s time to charge your case and buds, you can use the wireless charging feature or the quick-charge feature that will give you an hour and a half of playback time after just 20 minutes of charging. The Sport supports Bluetooth 5.1, AAC, and aptX. Available in either black or “oxygen blue,” the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay E8 Sport retails for USD$350.
