“Straight Outta Sweden” may not have the same ring to it, but the sound quality is undeniable. Urbanears, the Swedish audio company, has been producing headphones for ten years now, and the brand is finally branching into the wireless headphone market with Pampas.
Pampas are over-the-ear headphones that are available in three colours: Almond Beige, Charcoal Black, and Field Green. Pampas uses Sony’s noise-cancelling WH-1000XM3 to keep outside noise where it belongs. The built-in lithium-ion battery has a 30-hour playback life. Urbanears paid special attention to the comfort of the headphones, using a soft material that cushions the headband and the ear cups.
The cups are also angled for added comfort. A unique feature of the headphones is an extra socket that can be used to daisy chain with another headphone so that you can share your listening pleasure. You can also collapse the headphones for quick storage.
The headphones use 40mm drivers for acoustics and are Bluetooth 5.0 compatible. An inline control knob gives you control over volume, skipping, pausing, and receiving phone calls. Pampas supports aptX Bluetooth codec, which means Apple users will have to find some other streaming service. The headphones sell for USD$149.
