The Sony XB501G Extra Bass Wireless Speaker is Ready to Rock

Like a cross between the Apple HomePod and UE Wonderboom, the new Sony Extra Bass wireless speaker (aka XB501G) touts a compact design, water-resistant body, and endless string of functional features. True to its name, the unit comes equipped with a Digital Signal Processor, which takes those beefy bass notes to floor-thumping extremes. Pair that with Live Sound mode and you gain access to a three-dimensional audio experience, as if you were hearing your favourite band or artist live at a festival. In other words, this thing came ready to party.

As if its effortless portability and arena-sized sound weren’t enough, the Sony XB501G Extra Bass features WiFi connectivity by way of Bluetooth or NFC, and Google Assistant. Should you sync the speaker to your smartphone and use the Music Center app, you can control the music without the need for a WiFi connection. Also included is a built-in microphone for hands-free calling.

Knowing exactly who will benefit the most from this sort of product, Sony built the XB501G Extra Bass to be both water-resistant and dustproof, with an IP65 rating to show for it. In other words, feel free to take this baby poolside–you might even notice those deep bass notes causing the water to ripple. Meanwhile, the speaker lasts for a whopping 16 hours on a single charge. We told you it was ready to party.
