Panasonic’s LUMIX line has been around since 2001 and has been a brand noted for its innovations, such as the first digital single lens mirrorless camera released in 2008. The latest in the line of innovations takes aims at the needs of video streaming. Cameras used for streaming need high resolution, a wide dynamic range, flexible shooting angles, and different effects such as slow motion. What’s more, the camera size needs to be kept small. Those thoughts inspired the GH6.

With the introduction of the Micro Four Thirds image sensor and the Venus Engine image processor, the GH^ is able to handle high-speed signal readout and advanced video expression. The GH6 provides 4:2:2 10-bit Cinema 4K/60 p recording, which it can do continuously for a given duration. If you want slow or quick motion video, the GH6 also records 10-bit 4K 120p High Frame Rate and Variable Frame Rate settings. The camera has plenty of recording modes and also offers shooting assist functions, making this a viable option for both video and still work.

Panasonic hasn’t released any information regarding pricing, but considering that the GH5S retails for around $2,100, you can assume that the GH6 will be at least comparable if not a little north of that figure. If you’re looking for a camera that can handle all of your still photography needs and still excel in the world of video streaming, then you’ll need to hold on for just a bit longer. The Panasonic GH6 camera is on its way.
