Sony’s HX99 & WX800 Cameras are Beautifully Compact Yet Have Crazy Zoom

Looking for the perfect travel camera? Well, Sony recently introduced not just one, but two new Cyber-shot models to up your travel game. Dubbed the HX99 and WX800, respectively, each camera packs impeccable zoom range into the world’s smallest body. What’s more, both models deliver 4K 2 movie footage and come equipped with a BIONZ X processing engine with a front-end LSI. As a result, the cameras offer high-speed continuous shooting at up to 10 fps, high-frame rate HD recording at up to 100 fps, and lighting fast AF speeds. Oh, and did we mention they’re Bluetooth enabled for location data? Talk about putting big things in a small package!

Between the two models, the HX99 comes in as the premium entry. As such, it has the ability to shoot in RAW format and maximum ISO6400, and hosts advanced features like a customisable Control Ring. Also exclusive to this model are both a Touch Pad function and a built-in high-contrast retractable OLED Tru-Finder. Put everything together and you have yourself a compact beast that remains optimal in low-lighting conditions, delivers smooth focus point shifting through the viewfinder, and serves up 638,400 dots (equivalent) in OLED resolution.

Meanwhile, both cameras offer some downright versatile zoom range, which goes from 24mm1 at the 5 wide end all the way up to 720mm1 super-telephoto. That’s joined by new features like Eye AF, a Touch Focus/Touch Shutter function, and a tiltable LCD. Your travel game has just been upgraded.
