Gaming PC company Alienware has come a long way from simply being those desktops with the wild designs. After 25 years in the game, the brand has carved out a niche for high-performance releases that offer some serious output and to celebrate the milestone, Alienware has unveiled a new flagship gaming desktop, the Aurora R13. No gimmicks or crazy names, this PC is just straight-up gaming nirvana.
From the outset, the new Alienware Aurora R13 with Legend 2.0 case design cuts an imposing figure. The components are laid out in front of you, with every aspect in full display and it’s not by fault. The ‘open-air’ design focuses on component organisation and cable management, which in turn lends itself to improved airflow and acoustics.
“We’ve introduced a custom motherboard that places power connections towards the edges to eliminate any chance of airflow obstruction and eliminates the need for a daughter board for front I/O to reduce internal wiring needs. Each USB port has direct leads into the core architecture,” Alienware said in a statement. “A meticulous cable routing system has been designed along the right side of the chassis to manage any service or upgrades over time with mechanically isolated cables.”
According to Alienware, the new gaming desktop features up to four 120mm fans and a revamped chassis that effectively delivers 1.5 times the internal volume compared with the previous generations. Cooler and quieter than ever before, the Aurora R13 does have a few other tricks up its sleeve.
For gamers, the cable management upgrade is handy, but the hallmark of success remains performance. Alienware says the new commemorative release has upped the performance and visuals by adding the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card while also bumping up the AlienFX customizable lighting capabilities. This time around, Aurora will support up to eight lighting zones including various internal ambient and traditional lighting capabilities.
“Forged by the continuously passionate and compounding feedback of our fans across the galaxy within the stretch of our 25 years in circulation, we are proud to unveil the new Alienware Aurora gaming desktop,” the company said. “This evolutionary step where our Legend 2.0 industrial design arrives in desktop form echoes requests from our fans, engineered enhancements, and many of the features already loved by gamers and esports professionals in today’s desktop.”
The new Alienware Aurora R13 gaming desktop will be available from 9 November 2021 in two different versions. According to the brand, the Intel version is priced at AUD$2,799, while the AMD version will set you back AUD$3,699.
