Basenji Transforms a Surface Pro and Hot Air Balloon into a Studio at 3000ft

To celebrate the launch of Microsoft’s new 4G enabled Surface Pro, Sydney DJ and Producer Basenji performed a live set from a hot air balloon at 3000ft.

Using the computing power of the Surface Pro and its 4G connectivity, Basenji took his entire studio into the clouds to produce, perform and post a custom 35 minute mix to SoundCloud, all while being suspended up in the air.

“It was great to be able to take my studio to a completely new environment, one I never thought was even possible,” says Basenji. “The Surface Pro was perfect, the 4G connectivity was excellent, and it was such a great experience.”

Surface Pro with 4G is Microsoft’s new flagship laptop. It’s a 2-in-1, built with the versatility of a tablet and now 4G connectivity. Thanks to its 13.5 hours of battery life and advanced design, it’s also the thinnest, lightest and most powerful Surface Pro yet.

“Straight after my set finished, I needed to convert the file I created, jump online, download some software, convert the file from one format to another before uploading directly to SoundCloud and it all worked in a matter of minutes while we were up in the balloon,” adds Basenji. “The capability of the device is quite incredible; I’m really impressed.”

Surface Pro with 4G ships with Windows 10 and is available now from selected retailers. Prices start at $2,199.
