You know the saying, “Bigger is Better”? Well, LG seems to subscribe to that philosophy if their new 8K 88-inch Z9 OLED TV is any indication. The TV will have an incredible 33,117,600 pixels. If you’re thinking “mini theater” in your basement, you’re well on your way with this TV. The TV is powered by an a9 Gen 2 processor that upgrades the picture and sound quality using an intelligent algorithm. A deep database helps the processor to decide on ideal settings to create the incredibly realistic images that this TV is capable of—which is indicated in the “8K” name. If you’re keeping track at home, an 8K TV has four times the resolution of a 4K TV. The only challenge you’ll find is the surprising lack of 8K content out there, but when it does start showing up, you’ll be ready for it. The advanced processing makes up for that difference though, and will automatically recognize incoming content and then pick the best way to display it by adjusting the tone mapping curve and refining Dolby Vision content to match up ambient conditions for best picture optimization. The TV will come with Amazon Alexa, as well as a built-in Google Assistant. It also has virtual 5.1 surround sound capabilities.
